6. JOHN CLEESE ON CREATIVITY AND YOUR SPACE TIME OASIS

John Cleese (Chu C 2017) (Popova M) is the ultimate actor/creator of character. I found his insights very interesting. Upon reflection on my own oasis I have for some time thought about my creative space I feel that in my office at work I am full of distraction and constantly fighting with the days obstacles in order to get the real work done. Is it because in my own office people feel that when I am sitting in it I am available to be approached or to be called or emailed....In testing this over the last 6 months I have taken to work a 9 day fortnight in the office with the 10 day being time at home in my home office with the elimination of all the every day distractions. The results have been fascinating! I am averaging about 3-4 days work that I would normally do distracted in the office all in one day. So on self reflection I agree with what John is saying the new insight he has placed in my mind is can I create an oasis in the office not just one at home and does geography play a part in creating an oasis that works for me. Enjoy me insights and my excursion to my little oasis!

7. THINKING STYLES

Types of Thinking Test: Concrete, Analytical, Abstract, Logical, Imaginative, Creative Using a number of online tools I have been able to gain some valuable insights into the type of thinker that I am. It is interesting that I agree with the findings and this knowledge strengthens how I go about my day to day work and like. I have yet to implement and tools to further develop the thinking styles that I possess.

Results from the Psychologia test completed on the 27th July 2018 are as follows.

Following are the results of the Sommer + Sommer test I undertook showing I am in fact a left brain thinker.

8. CONNECTING THE DOTS

Over the last week I experience a situation that by asking more questions of two unconnected and unrelated parties with needs that were opposite (one client needing to sell a property and one client interested in buying) I was able to be the common thread in connecting the two parties together. Please watch how the situation presented itself, the additional questions that I asked in-order to create this connective environment. For your interest the client met independently of me yesterday to review the property and are in the process of seeing if they are able to negotiate a price on the property that is mutually beneficial without using agents.

9. CREATIVITY AND RISK

Having read the article The Necessity of Creative Risk Taking,  I 100% agree that the two concepts are correlated. Please watch my thoughts on the concept.....Who knows you might even see me start my own YouTube channel for my colleagues to follow my ideas without the risk of direct feedback that I may ordinarily] be to scared to receive!

10. NEW INSIGHTS

Technology to present an assignment. Who knew that there is any other means than a structured report. Did you know that bloggers don't post in sequential order?

Fascinated by the idea that I should create a creative space oasis in addition to the oasis that I already have at home...watch this space.

Please find below my reflections and key learnings from this assessment and I would like to thank you for the opportunity to stretch the boundaries of assessment preparation with no boundaries other than creativity.

5. CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION: SELF-REFLECTION WORKSHEET

Following is the self reflection worksheet that I have undertaken together my analysis of the data produced.

4. CREATIVITY AND EDUCATION

Having watched the Ken Robinson talk on the impact of creativity in education I have formulated the following insights from his presentation. In summary I agree with the presentation and Ken's approach and I look forward to more educators thinking and approaching education in the same way as Ken.

2. CREATIVITY POEM

Creative, creative, creative to be
Fear, fright and failure woe me
Creative, creative, creative the question
Don’t make any other suggestion

3. WHERE CREATIVITY COMES FROM

Having read the article by Amabile, The componential theory of creativity, I have identified a example of both where is have displayed the principled of foundations of the theory of creativity as identified by Amabile being intrinsically motivated person, high domain expertise, high skill in creative thinking and the environment that the person works in is supporting of the creative through process. I also elaborate on an instance where these foundations were not used and that the outcome was.
